About Us -Beach Portraits By Design
Welcome! Thank you for stopping by....
We have been in business for more than 35 years and we have been capturing the lives of families on Florida's Emerald Coast for almost six years. We chose to live and work in Destin, FL because of the wonderful beaches and friendly people. We have had the wonderful pleasure of photographing children and families from around the world that vacation and live in Destin and the surrounding beaches of the Florida panhandle. It has truly been a dream come true for us both.
Who is Beach Portraits By Design?
Let me tell you a little bit about us. We are a husband and wife team of portrait photographers that specialize in outdoor photography that is focused on beach and resort sessions. We love working together and find the creative job of portrait photography quite rewarding. Working with people of all ages reminds us daily of our blessings and the importance of family.
Ray, Professional Portrait Photographer.
Ray has been in the portrait business for more than 37 years. No, he is not as old as you think...it has been his passion and job since he was in high school. Over the years he has seen the industry grow and change dramatically from the old dark room days to the high tech world of digital. He has taught other professional photographers the art of natural light portrait photography and has captured a wealth of images from his travels and teaching. He is the true talent of the team and the glue that holds everything together! Like I tell most people, "I fell in love with his work before I fell in love with him". His ability to see light and to capture the soul never ceases to amaze and delight me.

I am that Southern voice that is the face of the business. I schedule sessions and take orders and even pay the bills but, my main job is retouching portraits. I have the ability to make you look fabulous, younger, and even slimmer if you like. Well... actually Ray does all that during the session with great posing, I just enhance it. I am the photoshop expert and I use my art background to make Ray's portraits even better and Christmas cards that are one-of-a-kind. So, I spend a lot of time on the computer and digital tablet.
My other job is entertainment director. I'm the behind the scenes help that gets do some crazy antics to get you to smile! I love making people laugh and getting to know our clients. They say it helps to be a little crazy, so I am well qualified.
